Staying Street wise - Estia celebrates decades of service with family in full Force!

Estia Health Nambour’s resident, retired Senior Sergeant Geoffrey Street, was recently recognised by the Queensland Police Force with a Service Medal for his contribution, diligent conduct and dedication during almost 30 years of service! The day was particularly poignant with Geoffrey’s son and daughter, Royleen and Geoffrey (named after his father) also receiving accolades for their contributions to the Force.

Geoffrey (Senior) had served his years in Dalby and Brisbane, while his daughter Royleen was sworn in as a cadet in 1977, before becoming a Scientific Officer until her retirement. Geoffrey’s son continues his service as a Senior Constable with the Bundaberg Road Policing Unit, and during the ceremony celebrating the family’s decades of service, received a 30-year clasp alongside his Queensland Police Service Medal.

“I am a very proud father of all my children,” reflected Geoffrey (Senior). “And to have two of my children wanting to follow in my steps is very special.”

“And I am so pleased for my whole family,” added wife and mother, Betty Street. “While I was a little worried about the career path they had chosen initially, I now realise that my husband and children have had careers that are genuinely meaningful, and have done so much for others in our community.”

Sunshine Coast Police Superintendent Darryl Johnson reflected on how humbling it had been for him to be a part of such an event.

" This was one of those days that I enjoyed significantly,” the Superintendent said. “It was an extremely proud day for Geoff Snr and Betty to be with family, and for them all to have been acknowledged for their commitment to the community of Queensland over a significant period of time.”

“It’s almost impossible to believe we had the chance to be a part of something so special,” shared Hayley Austin, Lifestyle Coordinator at the Estia home where the medal ceremony took place. “Such incredible years of dedicated service between them - and over two generations, what a wonderful family!”
