Aged Care Employee Day, a celebration of our workers and diverse culture.

Today is Aged Care Employee Day, a day where we acknowledge the 427,000 people who choose to care for more than 1.5 million older Australians.

More than 8,000 employees have the privilege of providing care to and supporting residents at Estia Health. Each and every employee across our organisation has a unique impact and plays a special part in making the everyday better. We acknowledge that what makes us all different is as important as what brings us together and to celebrate this, we are proud to be sharing results of the Embracing our Diversity survey with you. Thank you for taking the time to fill out this survey.

We are proud of the rich diversity of our employees. Here are some of the high-level results:

• We have employees across all age groups
• 1% of our people identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
• 68% were born outside of Australia. Of this number, 24% were born in India, 22% in Nepal and 17% in the Philippines
• 60% can speak another language and 44% of respondents are able to read another language. The top 3 languages spoken are Nepali, Hindi and Punjabi
• 5% identify as a person living with a disability, and
• 4% identify as LGBTIQA+

Today is about celebrating each and every team member involved in caring for people who receive aged care services – from the nurses and care workers to the allied health professionals, hospitality and lifestyle teams, to the drivers, cleaners and laundry employees, administration teams plus everyone who works behind the scenes.

I would like to personally thank you for your continued dedication and commitment to our residents, their families and friends and each other. Specifically, through your individual and collective efforts, support and commitment, you truly enrich and celebrate the lives of whose we are privileged to care for, making a real difference in our residents’ lives.
