To celebrate the annual horses birthday Dolly popped in for a visit.
Dolly belongs to staff member Kellie Webster’s seven-year-old daughter, who kindly brought her in to share with the residents.
“Dolly has the most amazing temperament and loves all of the attention the residents give her."
“I have been bringing in one of my daughters pony’s for a few years now to visit everyone, and it really is very special,” Kellie said.
“We always have visiting dogs to the home, but there is just something different about a pony walking into the home. “Dolly has the most amazing temperament and loves all of the attention the residents give her."
“She will rest her head on their lap while they pat her, and stand for hours, so that everyone has the opportunity to get a photo with her.
“Seeing the smiles that she brings to everyone’s faces makes it such a rewarding day, and that’s why I do it,”
“It can be quite an emotional experience for some residents as they never imagined being able to be close to a horse again when moving into care, so its nice to be a part of making that happen for them.”
The residents had been working on a beautiful craft display of all things horses for Dolly's arrival, and they sang happy birthday as they fed her carrot cake and apples.
Dolly’s visit to Estia Health was enjoyed so much by everyone that Kellie has promised she will return for another visit soon.
“Seeing the smiles that she brings to everyone’s faces makes it such a rewarding day, and that’s why I do it,” she said.
