Roy, Chef
The chef role in our homes is very important as they work with their catering team to provide home-cooked nutritious meals, meeting the many different dietary requirements that support residents’ overall wellbeing and care.
Roy is a trained chef leading the catering team at our Leopold home with extensive experience from his time in Europe and Australia working in the hotel, restaurant, pub, hospital and aged care sectors. Having such a breadth of experience, Roy enjoys applying his knowledge and expertise to deliver a special experience for the home’s residents.
Roy knows the importance of using quality produce and understanding the different tastes and needs of his customers and for our residents it’s no different. He is committed to Estia Health’s food philosophy ‘thoughtfully sourced, freshly prepared, served with love’. "We source from Australian producers with a focus on fresh ingredients and from suppliers who are recognised as the best in their field".
Roy says he loves being a chef in aged care ‘I really enjoy chatting with the residents and getting their feedback on the meals I’m cooking. I love it when residents bring me their own recipes to cook, as I know I’m making meals they’ve enjoyed all their lives’. As a trained pastry chef, Roy especially enjoys creating desserts and pastries for the resident’s weekly afternoon teas, pictured here with one of his famous brownies.
